Welcome to the East Anglian Traction Engine Society. Our society was founded in 1955, to advance the education of the public and to promote the preservation and running of all types of steam traction engine: portables, showman’s and ploughing engines, road locos, steam rollers and steam wagons. It was the second society of its kind to be formed in the UK. The East Anglian Traction Engine Club is the trading arm of the society.
National Vintage Tractor & Engine Club - East Anglia
The National Vintage Tractor & Engine Club has been in existence for over 30 years and currently has approximately 7500 members. As its name implies it is a National organisation, however it is divided into Regional Groups with our group known as East Anglia. The Club presents an opportunity for devotees of tractors and stationary engines to contact fellow enthusiasts both at Group level, and nationally via its flagship, the magazine “Vaporising”. Another facet of the N.V.T.E.C is a Safety Code that is recognised as a standard by many rally organisers and insurance companies.
Bedford Steam Engine Presevation Society
The Bedford Steam Engine Preservation Society was formed on 27th February 1956 by a few stalwart steam enthusiasts which has grown over the years into one of the largest preservation societies in the country. Its first steam rally was in 1957 (in conjunction with the National Traction Engine Club) at Woburn Park where it was very well attended by engines from all over Bedfordshire and surrounding counties.
